Responsibilities
- Analyze and critically evaluate customer technical inquiries (RFQs/OPPN), assess technological fit, and initiate deeper technical discussions when needed.
- Perform thin-film design calculations and cost estimation, balancing specs, price, lead time, and manufacturing risk.
- Select substrates and coatings, design non-standard dielectric stacks, define product specs, and propose deposition technology and supporting processes.
- Prepare technical proposals for Sales/BD and commercial proposals for customers; optimize offers to customer priorities.
- Evaluate technological risks and tolerances; propose mitigation and, for high-value/complex offers, prepare more detailed manufacturing plans.
- Ensure offers are manufacturable by collaborating with Production and R&D; clearly transfer concepts/requirements to production.
- Own CRM discipline: accurate and timely entry and updates of RFQ/offer/customer data.
- Join customer technical calls/meetings; educate customers and align expectations on price, lead time, and risk.
- Own technical handover after order placement and support Operations/Production with order-level technical decisions and issue resolution.
- Contribute to Tech Sales standardization and continuous improvement: document know-how, propose efficiency ideas, analyze lost RFQs/POs.

Required superpowers
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics (materials science/optics/photonics) or engineering.
- 2+ years of direct experience in optical coating manufacturing (thin films).
- Strong dielectric coating design capability: stack design, tolerance/variation assessment, spectral specification setting, and materials knowledge.
- Solid understanding of optical component and substrate specifications, supplier constraints, and manufacturability trade-offs.
- Good grasp of coating deposition technologies and related production sub-processes.
- Ability to read drawings; familiarity with relevant metrology/tests used in optical coating production.
- Mature technical communication with customers: can argue solutions, evaluate FIT, assess risk, and manage spec compromises (engineering judgment).
- Comfortable working with MS 365, thin film design software (OptiLayer/OTF Studio), and CRM systems.
- English C1.
