Optical Coating Engineer

Responsibilities 
  •  Ensure smooth daily IBS coating production according to the plan. 
  • Operate and monitor IBS equipment, adjust process parameters, identify and solve deviations. 
  • Prepare and maintain production documentation (process plans, instructions) and ensure order quality/output. 
  • Solve technological issues related to product specifications and optical coating performance. 
  • Organize non-standard metrology (e.g., abs, roughness, LIDT, CRD, GDD, phase) and interpret results. 
  • Coordinate new drawings of mounts and mechanical parts for non-standard customer orders. 
  • Manage projects: planning, budgeting, resource coordination, execution, and reporting. 
  • Perform basic technological calculations and prepare technical proposals for sales at the inquiry stage. 
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of technologies and processes, participate in experiments and internal improvement activities. 
Core mission 
  • Ensure stable, high-quality IBS optical coating production that meets technical specifications and delivery deadlines. 
  • Develop and optimize coating designs and processes, using metrology data and analysis to improve performance and yield. 
  • Support new products and projects by translating customer requirements into robust, manufacturable optical coating solutions. 
Required Superpowers 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering or related field. 
  • 1+ years in optical coatings / related field (preferably laser tech or IBS). 
  • Experience with thin film design (OptiLayer, OTF Studio, TFCalc), optical metrology (InterVue, Zygo Mx, EssentOptics), IBS control/analysis, data analysis (Power BI) and/or programming (MATLAB, Python) – considered as a strong advantage. 
  • Solid knowledge of dielectric optical coatings (HR, AR, POL, NPBS, etc.), main coating materials (Ta₂O₅, TiO₂, SiO₂, MgF₂) and deposition technologies (thermal evaporation, E-beam, IBS, MS). 
  • Understanding of optical component specs and metrology (R, T, absorption, scattering, flatness, GDD, LIDT; spectrophotometer, interferometers, LIDT/CRD). 
  • Ability to read technical drawings; basic project & time management skills. 
  • Lithuanian and English – C1.
